The Seductive Allure of Aversive Dog Training will cover topics like the following:

  • Why aversive-based dog training methods are so attractive to people and the human psychology of why some people will reach for aversives first.

  • Who is most likely to use aversive dog training methods and the possible reasons why.

  • The possible fallout from aversive dog training methods and why these should be eye-opening for people, but aren’t.

  • How to get through to people who have been seduced by the “quick fix” appearance of aversive-based dog training methods and better help them and their dogs.

  • How to support people who are crossing over from aversive-based dog training methods to more positive reinforcement-based ones.

  • How understanding others can help us bring dog training methods up-to-date with recent scientific findings and help us have empathy for people - even when we disagree with them.
