About Basic Manners & Puppy Training

Because Faithfully Yours Dog Training specializes in training dogs with behavioral concerns, our basic manners and puppy training options aren’t your traditional offerings. We teach basic obedience, manners, and puppy training during weekend training workshops at our Braxton, MS farm (30 minutes from Jackson, MS) and virtually in group classes format over Zoom. We have found that virtual group classes allow us to invite people and dogs who can’t attend traditional group classes because of their busy schedule or because their dog have behavioral concerns like car anxiety or reactivity. Most of these virtual classes are pay-as-you-go, making them affordable and easy to fit into your schedule.

Weekend workshops at our Braxton, MS facility are for non-reactive dogs and owners who want to focus on the skills that matter to them - not take a months-long course and only come out with a couple useful behaviors. Let’s face it - meeting anywhere once a week every week for months is nearly impossible in our modern world. These weekend workshops offer owners the opportunity to set everything aside for just a weekend, focus on their training goals, and then return to their regularly scheduled lives without overcommitting!

Common Questions & Answers

  • If you or your dog are any of the following, virtual training is the ideal solution for you:

    - You are a busy professional or student who can’t make regular training business hours fit your schedule.
    - Your dog isn’t well-behaved in public spaces and/or around strangers or other animals yet.
    - Your dog doesn’t travel well or gets carsick easily.
    - You haven’t found a local trainer who fits your training style.
    - You feel more comfortable working with others virtually or over the phone.

  • Virtual training group classes are just as effective as in-person training classes!

Virtual group classes help you become your dog’s main focus because you are working with your dog one-on-one. Remember that your goal is for your dog to listen to you - not just your trainer.

In order to achieve that goal, you will need to practice with your dog one-on-one, so virtual classes push you to make that a priority from the very beginning of your dog’s training journey.

  • Owners who can safely handle their dogs and dogs that are fully vaccinated (with proof).

All dogs must be non-reactive and friendly towards animals and people.

Workshops may have their own age requirement based on the topic.

You will be asked to leave if your dog is not appropriate for the workshop setting.

  • Weekend workshops can be in different formats, depending on the topic.

Generally, Saturdays will be owner-only days. Owners will arrive without their dogs and learn about how to train the behaviors and about the owner part of the training equation. Saturdays range from two to three hours of your time.

On Sundays, owners will bring their own dogs and train them to do the very behaviors the owners learned about the day before. Sundays are a bit shorter because the dogs can become tired, so training will range from one to two hours of your time. If it is a more advanced workshop and owners can crate their dog, hands-on time might run longer.

  • Our weekend workshops are held at our Braxton, MS training facility, which is only around 35 minutes from Jackson, MS.

  • Virtual group classes will range in price depending on topic and length of class. You can generally purchase 1-hour classes individual however for $20 to $45. Sometimes we run a full series that meets weekly with the same students attending each week, which you would pay in full in advance. These can be anywhere from $100 to $300 for four to six weeks.

Weekend workshops are generally two-day workshops and will range in cost depending on topic, length, and speaker. They generally range from $100 to $450 for the whole weekend with hands-on work with the dog. Audit spots without a dog are generally available for cheaper.

  • No. We no longer offer private 1-on-1 training for basic manners or puppy training. However, if your dog is reactive, aggressive, or fearful, you may be eligible for our 1-on-1 behavior consulting programs.
