ENROLLMENT CLOSED UNTIL FALL - Farm Dog Prep: Life Skills Around Distractions Group Class
Often thought of the farm version of the American Kennel Club’s Canine Good Citizenship exam, this group class will help you and your dog prepare for AKC Farm Dog exam and a farm lifestyle.
Even if your dog is a city pup, this six 1-hr group class program will help your dog learn to work around unique distractions like chickens and farm-related noises, walk on a loose leash, patiently wait through gates and while in their kennel, and calmly accept the presence of other dogs and strangers. We have chickens and farm equipment on site for use during this class.
We will cover the following topics:
Passing other dogs and strangers on loose leash
Accepting petting from a Farm Dog judge
Accepting loud noise distractions, like lawnmowers or tractors
Calmly waiting at gates and in a crate/kennel
Obedience around livestock, like chickens
Basic obedience needed to be a farm dog
Standing for exams to check paws and fur for burrs

Family Dog Obedience is a basic obedience group class with up to five students meeting each week to learn about fostering good behavior and manners within the household in their adult dog (five months or older).
We will cover the following topics:
Household manners (ex. no counter surfing)
Getting focus around distractions
Reducing pulling on leash and jumping up
Building confidence & engagement
Sit, Stay, Come, and more foundation cues
Preventing unwanted behaviors & aggression
Creating a well-rounded dog with manners

Have a dog that is barking and lunging excitedly at other dogs or strangers on leash? This is the group class for you! Learn how to get to the root of this issue - rather than just teaching obedience skills to cover it up. Leash reactivity is becoming one of the most common behavioral issue we deal with in dogs today.
We will cover the following topics:
Addressing leash reactivity that is excitement based
Understanding where this behavior starts
Desensitization and counter-conditioning
Loose leash walking skills
Creating a peaceful walk for both you and your dog
Skills for frustration and stress relief on walks
Addressing barking and lunging on leash

Do you have a new puppy you are bringing into your family? Congratulations! This class is perfect for puppies under five months old, who you want to help start off on the right paw. Puppy Brilliance is a series of six 1-hour group classes created with puppy troubles in mind.
We will cover the following topics:
Socialization & positive introductions
Potty training & crate training
Play biting/teething
Building confidence & engagement
Sit, Stay, Come, and more foundation cues
Preventing unwanted behaviors & aggression
Creating a well-rounded puppy with manners

Have you ever wanted to get started in the world of dog sports, but feel too intimidated? Are you not sure your dog has the manners, natural ability, or confidence to excel in the ring? If you aren’t sure what sport to start with, your dog needs a refresher to clean up sloppy performances, or you are looking for a class that isn’t just sit and stay, this group class will be perfect for you! This class can be modified to suit all ages over three months.
We will cover the following topics:
Off-leash work and reliability for sports
Getting focus and engagement in the ring
How to keep your dog relaxed when crated
Building confidence in new situations
Intros to a variety of sports like disc dog, agility, stunt dog, rally, and more.
Creating solid foundational skills for sports
Working around other dogs and distractions
August's Skill Sharper Class: Clicker Training 101 for Dog Owners
If you have feel overwhelmed juggling a clicker, treats, your leash, and a treat pouch, August’s Skill Sharper is for you!
August’s Skill Sharper class will be a1-hr group class without dogs, where you will learn to sharpening your training skills when it comes to a specific topic. Our Skill Sharper mini classes focus on teaching owners how to train their own dogs in a single important skill or developing needed skills to train better. These classes aren't so much about your dog, but about you understanding how to reinforce the behavior you desire in your dog.
August's topic is clicker training 101 for dog owners. We will spend our time in August going through fun games without our dogs, that will teach us how to become better and more effective trainers at home. If you feel like you are holding your dog back, you feel scrambled or overwhelmed when training, or just wanted to sharping up your clicker training skills - this is the class for you! We will also be working with our Silkie chickens as demo animals to test our training skills, so this class is truly a unique experience.
